Also, I have had strep throat for just under a week now, never had it at home, but of course I get it over here. Its pretty lame and certainly is putting my ambitious mid-semester break travel plans at risk, as a 4-day alpine trek would be hard for me even without having stayed in bed for days (instead of training on Auckland's hills). [Mid-semester break, btw, is April3rd-19th, one week away]. Being too exhausted to do too much else, though, has its advantages. Got alot of planning done for my trip, and saw some great movies (Slumdog Millionaire, Cool Hand Luke, American Beauty, LOTR 1, Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels with the advantage of having lived with Brits this time haha)...but barely got any homework done...oops? Wanted to make a joke about how my first experience with a semi-socialized medical system involved the doctor not knowing the difference between acetaminophen and aspirin, and the pharmacy running out of penicillin, but, to be fair, it was more a case of a acetaminophen=paracetemol here and a tiny university pharmacy and lots of kids getting sick all over campus.
I will post my mid-semester break trip itinerary when it is finalized. All I have booked now are flights to/from Christchurch, a couple of hostels and the huts for the trek. Oh, and my fisheries field trip to UoA's Leigh Marine Lab to catch and analyze NZ snapper.
Til then, here's to hoping you all had a better/healthier week than me! (even if it was colder)
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Cool Hand Luke equal awesomenesss!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your sickness.
